The Saudi Water Authority announced the organization of the Innovation Driven Water Sustainability Conference (IDWS 2026) from 7 to 9 December 2026 in the city of Jeddah, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for water innovation and investment, and as an international platform that brings together governments, investors, operators, and innovators to shape the future of the sector worldwide.
The conference comes at a time when water has become a strategic factor for economic growth, sustainability, and national security, amid the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence technologies, data centers, advanced industries, mining, and clean energy, accompanied by a steadily increasing demand for water resources and related infrastructure.
IDWS 2026 is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants from 140 countries, in addition to over 250 speakers and 150 exhibitors, in a high-level international gathering that will bring together government leaders, chief executive officers, investors, operators, researchers, technology companies, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of water, accelerate the development of sustainable water solutions, and enhance investment opportunities and international partnerships.
The hosting of the conference in the Kingdom reflects the significant achievements that have strengthened its global standing in the water sector. Saudi Arabia possesses one of the world’s most advanced and integrated water systems, operating more than 500 water production facilities with a capacity exceeding 16.2 million cubic meters per day. The Kingdom also leads the world in desalinated water production and the development of highly efficient desalination technologies.
This progress embodies the transformative achievements of Saudi Vision 2030, which have contributed to building an advanced global model for water resource management, enhancing sustainability, improving operational efficiency, and stimulating investment and innovation within the sector.

Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority, emphasized that the conference continues to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global partner in shaping the future of the water sector. He noted that the success achieved by previous editions reflects the growing international confidence in the Kingdom’s role in developing sustainable water solutions and enhancing international cooperation.
