Al-Baha, September 10, 2025 — HE Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), conducted an inspection tour of several water sector projects in the Al-Baha region, reviewing progress on initiatives aimed at strengthening production, transmission, and strategic storage capacities to meet the region’s growing water needs and improve service efficiency and sustainability.

During his visit, His Excellency inspected the strategic storage facility in Baljurashi, which has a capacity of 75,000 cubic meters. Supported by eight distribution tanks, the facility plays a critical role in enhancing network operations and forms a cornerstone of the region’s water security system.

He also toured the wastewater treatment plant in Al-Aqiq, which has a treatment capacity of 6,250 cubic meters per day. The plant now serves more than 3,000 household connections through a network stretching 417 kilometers, supported by 14 treatment facilities with a combined capacity exceeding 49,350 cubic meters per day.

The inspection concluded with a visit to the National Water Company’s customer service center, where HE Eng. Al-Abdulkarim reviewed performance improvements. The center reported a 50% decline in service outage and off-grid complaints this year, alongside a 41% reduction in average wait times for off-grid services.

According to SWA, total water production in Al-Baha has now surpassed 200,000 cubic meters per day, reflecting a 198% increase following the implementation of new projects. Water is delivered through more than 320 kilometers of transmission pipelines, serving over 398,000 beneficiaries across the region.

Officials emphasized that these projects highlight the Kingdom’s accelerating efforts to modernize water infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and ensure long-term sustainability of water resources.
