The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) announced the completion of its operational readiness to serve the Guests of Allah during the Hajj season of 1447H through an integrated system that ensures reliable water supply and uninterrupted water services in Makkah and the holy sites. The preparations are designed to meet the expected increase in demand during Hajj, one of the world’s most intensive operational environments in terms of water consumption within a limited timeframe.

SWA confirmed that water production capacity has been raised to more than 3.8 million cubic meters per day, marking an 18% increase compared with the last Hajj season. Transmission capacity was also increased to more than 2.3 million cubic meters per day, up 32%, enhancing supply efficiency and the flexibility of the operational system during peak periods.

Storage capacity was increased to more than 8.8 million cubic meters, representing an increase of more than 49% compared with the previous season. Distribution capacity also rose by 10% to exceed 1.3 million cubic meters per day, ensuring the ability to meet growing demand and sustain services for the Guests of Allah around the clock.

As part of efforts to strengthen operational integration, SWA adopted this year a unified operational code for water services in the holy sites aimed at governing operational procedures, enhancing response readiness and unifying roles among relevant entities, contributing to improved operational efficiency and service reliability during the season.

Readiness efforts also included conducting operational tests and field simulations in coordination with more than 18 relevant entities, in addition to integrated planning for supply chains linked to water services across more than 4,100 facilities in the holy sites. These measures support the delivery of safe and sustainable water services in line with the highest operational readiness standards.

SWA explained that Hajj season plans are based on integration among production, transmission, storage and distribution systems, in addition to field readiness, monitoring and control centers, and enhanced operational response efficiency around the clock, ensuring uninterrupted services and reliable water supply for the Guests of Allah throughout the season.
