His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), chaired today SWA's fourth Board of Directors meeting. The session was attended by Governor of SWA, Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Abdulkarim, along with board members, at SWA's headquarters in Riyadh.

The Board reviewed the agenda items and highlighted the achievements realized under the ongoing transformation of the water sector, most notably the efforts to strengthen supply reliability and develop infrastructure through major projects launched to meet industrial and residential growth demands. These included the “One Million Project” in Jubail, which is considered a model of innovation and sustainability as one of the largest reverse osmosis desalination systems worldwide, alongside new water service projects across several regions to enhance supply reliability in both cities and villages.

As part of performance reports and updates, board members were briefed on progress in building national capacities to support sustainability projects in this vital sector. This includes strategic investment in human capital, specialized training programs, and the establishment of high-value partnerships to prepare qualified professionals capable of leading the water sector, empowering the system, and boosting its efficiency.

The meeting also reviewed a number of achievements aligned with SWA's strategic objectives, including the implementation of rapid-response initiatives across the Kingdom that have improved water services, enhanced system performance indicators, reduced complaint resolution times, and raised beneficiary satisfaction levels.

This meeting reflects the Board’s continued oversight of the sector’s progress and its commitment to supporting SWA's role in delivering the goals of the National Water Strategy, in line with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030 for a more efficient, sustainable, and globally leading water sector.
