Al Baha, September 10, 2025 — His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al Baha Region, received today at his office His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), along with his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, HRH Prince Hussam was briefed on SWA’s efforts to enhance water services across the region and the launch of several key projects. These included the commissioning of groundwater and surface water production units in Al-Ahassaba and Dukah, each with a daily capacity of 20,000 cubic meters serving approximately 80,000 residents.

The projects aim to strengthen sustainable water supplies for the governorates of Al-Makhwah and Qilwah and their surrounding centers. The review also covered the operation of the Qilwah branch of the “Line of Life” transmission system and the activation of a 75,000-cubic-meter strategic storage facility to provide emergency backup supplies when needed.

HE Eng. Al Abdulkarim highlighted SWA’s broader initiatives to boost the efficiency of regional water supply systems. He noted that production capacity in Al-Baha has now exceeded 200,000 cubic meters per day, supported by over 320 kilometers of transmission lines, which together meet the needs of around 398,000 beneficiaries across more than 1,000 population centers throughout the region.

HRH Prince Hussam underscored that the water sector is a cornerstone of regional development, affirming the Governorate’s support for projects that enhance the sustainability of water resources and align with national leadership’s vision of integrated, long-term service delivery.

HE Eng. Al Abdulkarim emphasized that SWA is pursuing a comprehensive development plan that encompasses infrastructure upgrades and the expansion of distribution networks to keep pace with rapid population growth and accelerated development. He also expressed appreciation for HRH Prince Hussam’s continued support of water sector projects in Al-Baha, reaffirming SWA’s commitment to advancing services in line with global standards and innovative practices that reflect the Kingdom’s leadership in the water sector.
