The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) stressed that connection to the sewer network is a mandatory regulatory requirement aimed at ensuring the safe and proper discharge of wastewater, protecting the environment and public health, and reducing the risks of pollution and leaks in residential neighborhoods.

SWA explained that the connection process follows clear and structured procedures that begin with notifying beneficiaries once the service becomes available in their neighborhoods. Notifications are delivered through multiple channels, including text messages, electronic alerts, call centers and the service providers’ websites, ensuring that beneficiaries receive timely notice.

SWA noted that the financial charge for connecting to sewer services is calculated in accordance with the regulations approved by the Council of Ministers in its Decision No. 763 dated 30/11/1441 AH. The calculation is based on property classification, property area and the diameter of the connection. Payment is made after the full bill is issued or through the installment system approved by the service provider prior to implementation.

SWA also confirmed that support and communication channels are available to beneficiaries around the clock through the unified call center (19913) to respond to inquiries and receive feedback.

SWA emphasized that connection to the sewer network contributes to enhancing quality of life, protecting property and ensuring the sustainability of water services, in line with the Kingdom’s urban development and environmental sustainability objectives.
