Saudi–Singapore Roundtable Explores Governance and Opportunities to Develop Water Systems

Saudi water sector leaders held a roundtable discussion with a high-level delegation from Singapore’s Public Utilities Board (PUB) and the Singapore Water Association, on the sidelines of the Innovation Driven Water Sustainability Conference (IDWS 2025) in Jeddah.
The discussions focused on water governance frameworks and their practical applications in managing supply and service systems, in addition to reviewing institutional mechanisms that contribute to improving operational efficiency and enhancing network reliability.
The talks were part of IDWS’s side events, aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange and building technical and regulatory cooperation channels between the two sides.
Following the review of governance models, the roundtable addressed areas of joint collaboration, as Saudi water sector leaders outlined national efforts in operational development and infrastructure expansion, as well as the role of operational data in supporting decision-making and improving service levels.
The Singaporean delegation also presented an overview of its innovation programs, including support for research, pilot incubators, and platforms that accelerate the adoption of new technologies.
The session concluded with an emphasis on the importance of developing sustainable cooperation pathways focused on strengthening institutional capabilities and enhancing workforce readiness, in addition to coordinating efforts in innovation and applied research, in a way that supports the sustainability of water resources and improves service quality in both countries.
