The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) said the “Water Oasis” in Rabigh represents a leading global model in the water sector, reinforcing its position as one of the largest specialized scientific environments dedicated to developing water technologies worldwide. The oasis brings together advanced scientific research, applied experimentation and entrepreneurship within an integrated system that covers the entire water supply chain, from production to transmission, storage, distribution, treatment and reuse.

SWA explained that the oasis stands out as a strategic initiative led by the authority to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions. It provides researchers and innovative companies with opportunities to test and develop modern technologies in an advanced scientific environment supported by smart infrastructure and central laboratories equipped to the latest international standards.

To ensure comprehensive innovation, the project includes specialized facilities such as a research and business center, as well as advanced laboratories in chemistry, biology, materials, mechatronics and radiation sciences. The project’s core component is the advanced pilot plant, which enables innovators to test desalination and renewable energy technologies at realistic operational scales.

In addition, the oasis hosts the “Water Academy,” which focuses on qualifying national talent through training programs and advanced simulation and virtual reality technologies, preparing a generation capable of leading the future of this vital sector.

The oasis also incorporates an investment dimension by providing an attractive environment for start-ups and global companies through flexible workspaces and collaboration platforms, thereby enhancing knowledge transfer. This reflects the Kingdom’s ambitious vision to become the world’s leading hub for water innovation and to address water challenges in order to ensure sustainable water security at both the local and international levels.
