The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) stressed the importance of conducting periodic inspections of household water tanks and internal connections to enable the early detection of hidden leaks that may lead to unusual increases in water consumption and higher bills.

SWA explained that the main sources of leaks include bathrooms, kitchens, overhead and underground tanks, yards and gardens, and water heaters. It called for checking the safety of the tank neck, float valve and connections, ensuring that walls are free of cracks or damage, and addressing any faults immediately upon detection.

SWA noted that continuous monitoring and the use of water conservation tools contribute to reducing water losses, protecting infrastructure and lowering the cost of water use. It emphasized that early detection of leaks is a proactive step that enhances the sustainability of water supplies and ensures efficient water use, supporting the preservation of national resources and reflecting the shared responsibility to protect them.
