H.E. Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), visited NHC’s Khuzam Destination in Riyadh, in the presence of NHC CEO Mr. Mohammed bin Saleh Albuty. During the visit, H.E. reviewed the current and future water needs of NHC destinations and key projects within the destination. The visit also included a field tour of Wadi Murcia.

H.E. also visited one of the residential units within NHC’s projects, which features solutions developed under the “Water Model Home” initiative, implemented in collaboration with SWA through its innovation arm, the Saudi Water Innovation Center. The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of innovative water technologies and their deployment across residential projects.

The initiative seeks to provide an integrated residential model that incorporates modern water technologies to manage consumption and improve water-use efficiency. It also provides a real-world testing environment where startups can pilot their solutions and demonstrate their readiness in an actual residential setting. The initiative aims to enable 16 startups supported through the Innovation Center’s business incubators and accelerators, providing them with opportunities to further develop their solutions, strengthen their presence in the residential sector, and access the market.

The model home features an integrated suite of smart solutions and technologies for measuring and managing water consumption and improving water-use efficiency. This creates greater opportunities for collaboration between startups and real estate developers while supporting the accelerated adoption of innovative solutions across residential projects.

The tour included a review of several technologies that leverage artificial intelligence to measure and analyze water consumption, detect leaks at an early stage, remotely control valves, monitor tank levels and pump performance, and provide advanced water quality measurement solutions.

These solutions also provide smart applications that enable users to monitor their water consumption data, helping improve water-use efficiency and increase awareness of consumption patterns.

The “Water Model Home” initiative connects innovation with the actual needs of the housing sector.
