Eastern Province Governor Receives Saudi Water Authority President and Reviews Its Efforts in the Region

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, received His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority, accompanied by a number of the Authority’s officials, at his office today.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness was briefed on the Authority’s efforts to regulate the water sector, monitor the performance of service providers and the progress of infrastructure projects, as well as the water service coverage rate, which has reached 96% across the region.

His Royal Highness was also briefed on the Authority’s initiatives to localize knowledge and develop the capabilities of national professionals and contractors. These initiatives have contributed to the graduation of 3,000 trainees from the Saudi Water Academy in Jubail and to building the capabilities of national companies that have undertaken the construction of some of the world’s largest desalinated water production systems in Jubail, Al Khobar, and Ras Al Khair.

The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of the Value Chain Localization Program for industries related to water services, as well as the Eastern Province’s industrial and logistical advantages and its proximity to production inputs and sources of demand at the local and regional levels. These factors support the localization of industries, enhance supply chain resilience, and contribute to water supply security within an integrated national system.

His Royal Highness the Governor of the Eastern Province highlighted the support and attention given by the wise leadership—may Allah protect it—to the water sector, recognizing it as one of the vital sectors closely linked to development and its sustainability. He also noted the region’s continued growth across various fields and the accompanying population, urban, and industrial expansion, emphasizing that the sustainability of water services and improving their efficiency are important factors in supporting development and quality of life in the region.
