Under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority, the Authority launched the “Unified Qualification Program for Water Sector Contractors” in collaboration with the Saudi Contractors Authority. The program aims to enhance project execution efficiency and improve contractors’ readiness to deliver water infrastructure projects in line with unified technical and regulatory standards.

The launch ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ajlan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Contractors Authority, along with several leaders from both entities.

The program represents an extension of the integration efforts between the two entities to unify qualification and classification standards for water sector contractors across the Kingdom, contributing to improved performance efficiency and reliability.

Furthermore, supporting the growth and empowerment of national contracting companies is the aim of the program to enhance contractor capabilities and strengthen their role in the water sector, while building a more efficient and sustainable market for business leaders and national talent, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to establishing an integrated ecosystem that enhances the quality of water services in the Kingdom.

The program includes 13 approved standards through which contractors’ readiness levels are assessed, while also providing a clear roadmap to support capability development and elevate their classification within the program.

The first phase of the program will be launched digitally, enabling contractors to benefit from the initiative and align their technical and operational capabilities with qualification and classification requirements. This will pave the way for mandatory implementation starting in mid-2027 for new projects, progressing toward full implementation across all projects by 2028, in line with the Saudi Water Authority Strategy for Capacity Building 2026–2029.

The Authority also invites water services contractors to benefit from the program and enhance their contracting readiness by registering through the Saudi Contractors Authority platform (Ertiqa) and completing the qualification requirements.
