The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) announced that water volumes pumped by the Kingdom’s water sector in Makkah and the holy sites on the day of Eid Al-Adha reached 904,941 cubic meters. This brings the total volume pumped from the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah up to the 10th day to 8,699,740 cubic meters, as part of a comprehensive operational plan aimed at ensuring water supply security and sustainability during the Hajj season.
The SWA affirmed that the water sector continues to operate at high efficiency, backed by production and transmission capacities that exceed 1.2 million cubic meters per day and daily pumping volumes surpassing one million cubic meters. This performance is supported by a fully integrated infrastructure equipped with smart systems and advanced technologies.
This operational excellence reflects the collaborative efforts of all sectors within the water system, working together to ensure reliable and efficiently distributed supply. These efforts include advanced network management, increased operational efficiency, and optimized storage, transmission, and treatment capacities. Additionally, conservation initiatives implemented by The National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) are enhancing resource sustainability and promoting more efficient usage.
As part of its operational monitoring activities, the SWA conducted 4,257 laboratory tests on Eid Al-Adha to ensure the quality and safety of water supplied to the pilgrims, reinforcing the sector’s reliability and commitment to safeguarding public health.
