The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) announced that the volume of water pumped by the water sector in Makkah and the Holy Sites on the Day of Arafah reached 895,622 cubic meters, noting that the total amount pumped since the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah until the ninth day of the month reached 7,794,799 cubic meters. These efforts fall under a carefully designed operational plan aimed at ensuring the continuity of water supply, relying on production and transmission capacities that meet peak daily demand exceeding 1.2 million cubic meters per day, with a pumping capacity of over 1 million cubic meters daily.
These volumes were achieved thanks to the integration of efforts across all sectors of the water sector, ensuring supply sufficiency and distribution efficiency through advanced network management and the use of smart infrastructure, supported by modern technologies that enhance operational performance.
In addition to storage, transmission, distribution, and treatment capacities, effective conservation initiatives carried out by the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) are playing a key role in ensuring resource sustainability and meeting demand efficiently.
As part of operational oversight, 4,908 laboratory tests were conducted on the Day of Arafah to ensure water quality and safety, raising the total number of tests to record levels and reinforcing confidence in the reliability of water services provided to pilgrims.
Moreover, field inspection teams from the Saudi Water Authority continued their monitoring activities at pilgrim camps and service facilities in Mina and Arafat to assess the quality of water services provided. The total number of inspection tours carried out has exceeded 5,000 visits.
