As part of the Kingdom’s efficient water resource management during Hajj, the water sector continues to implement its operational plan in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. The Saudi Water Authority is reinforcing these efforts through its regulatory role, aimed at ensuring compliance, enhancing operational efficiency, and intensifying oversight to maintain high-quality service continuity.
This integrated strategy reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing advanced infrastructure that meets the needs of pilgrims, in line with the highest standards of quality and sustainability. The Authority’s efforts are centered around the critical role of water transmission and distribution networks, which serve as a backbone for service reliability during Hajj and a key enabler in meeting the increasing water demand in Makkah and the holy sites. These networks, spanning over 1,316 kilometers operate at peak efficiency to ensure uninterrupted flow during periods of high consumption. Their daily production capacity reaches 1.2 million cubic meters to meet peak demand, while average daily pumping during Arafah Day and Eid Al-Adha reaches around 1 million cubic meters, underscoring the readiness of all sectors to meet demand.
These efforts fall under the “Tawriyah” campaign, reflecting the water sector’s commitment to delivering safe and sustainable services, guided by the Ministry’s vision of promoting sustainability and innovation, and mobilizing resources and capabilities to provide pilgrims with the highest levels of reliability and comfort, ensuring the continued success of the Hajj season year after year.
