The Saudi Water Sector (SWA), represented by the Saudi Water Authority, is participating in the "Asian International Water Week" (AIWW), which kicked off today, Tuesday, September 24, and will continue until next Saturday.

His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, President of the Saudi Water Authority, is heading the Water Sector's delegation at the third edition of Asian International Water Week, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Saudi Water Authority, National Water Company, Water Transmission Company, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Saudi Water Partnership Company, and the Saudi Irrigation Organization. The participation aims to elevate efforts and cooperation in the water sector and exchange best practices and experiences in water resource management.

Through its participation, SWA seeks to contribute to placing water issues at the forefront of the international agenda, highlighting the role of Saudi Arabia and its efforts to address water challenges, its commitment to environmental sustainability issues, and the development of the global water sector. Notably, this includes the announcement by the HRH the Crown Prince to establish a global water organization headquartered in Riyadh, aimed at integrating efforts of countries and organizations to address water challenges. Saudi Arabia has demonstrated a globally leading experience in producing, transporting, and distributing water, and in developing innovative solutions to these challenges, making it the world's largest water producer.

This participation affirms the leading role of the authority in managing water resources, highlighted by the signing of a cooperation agreement with the World Bank. This agreement aims to leverage expertise in developing and planning the water resources sector, enhancing water security, and sharing this outstanding experience with less developed countries to achieve sustainable development goals.

The Water sector delegation will also showcase Saudi Arabia's leadership in water resource management and modern technologies through various sessions, workshops, and a dedicated exhibition booth. The aim is to inspire the adoption of new methods to improve water sector efficiency and strengthen bilateral relations and partnerships in this field.

Within the conference, the Saudi Water Authority seeks to enhance the role of the private sector in developing water projects and attracting investments, aligning with the sustainable development goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Additionally, the authority is exploring strategic partnerships and supporting innovation in the water sector through meetings and discussions with Chinese companies specializing in artificial intelligence applications and water service management solutions.

It is noteworthy that "Asian International Water Week" is hosted by the Asia Water Council in collaboration with China's Ministry of Water Resources. The event brings together a distinguished group of water experts and specialists from around the world, featuring sessions, workshops, and exhibitions that highlight innovations and modern technologies in the field. It serves as a platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the water sector in Asia and globally.
