SWA Board Holds Inaugural Meeting Led by Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture

The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) Council held its first meeting, Wednesday, chaired by His Excellency Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.


The meeting set the stage for defining SWA's future direction, with a sharp focus on transforming the water sector into a global benchmark for sustainable management, service quality enhancement, and national capability development.


During this pivotal gathering, the Council ratified SWA's strategic orientations, encapsulating 43 initiatives aimed at excelling across various facets of the water sector. These initiatives include regulatory supervision, beneficiary interests, supply security, compliance, capacity building, economic development, digital transformation, and innovation.


The session also covered a comprehensive review of the general and operational performance indicators of both the Council and the executive management. It assessed ongoing models and initiatives that are instrumental in the sector's progress.


H.E. AlFadley underscored the transformative strides being made in the water sector and emphasized the need to keep pace with these changes. He highlighted that advancing sustainability and innovation is crucial for aligning with the Saudi Vision 2030.


His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, the President of SWA, extended his gratitude to His Excellency the Chairman and the distinguished Council members for their endorsement of the strategic directions, along with its objectives, initiatives, and development models for the water sector in Saudi Arabia.


H.E. Al-Abdulkarim noted that these initiatives and objectives reflect the values of sustainability, innovation, responsibility, governance, initiative, and integration, aiming to reshape policies, activate regulations, and safeguard beneficiaries' rights. H.E. stressed the importance of continued efforts to elevate the sector and achieve sustainable objectives that contribute to the Saudi Arabia's vision for citizens well-being and security.
