The Saudi Water Authority has announced significant progress in the water system during the first half of 2024. This includes increased production capacities, enhanced pumping operations, and expanded storage capacities across various regions, achieved through the implementation of new strategic projects aimed at ensuring sustainability and the quality and safety of the water supply.

Production has increased in six key regions: Riyadh, Mecca, the Eastern Region, the Northern Borders, Najran, Qassim, and Tabuk. This was accomplished through 12 purification stations, with daily production capacities exceeding 130,000 cubic meters. The average pumping hours in 12 sub-regions increased to over 2.6 hours, and outages decreased in 11 sub-regions.

This period also saw the commissioning of the Shuaiba production system (phase five), with a production capacity of over 600,000 cubic meters per day of desalinated water. Also, 26 water transfer projects were established, utilizing pipelines with a total length exceeding 1,700 kilometers. The launch and operation of 81 new tanks increased the strategic storage capacity to over 10.8 million cubic meters.

These achievements are part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and sustainability of water supplies, ensuring continuous availability around the clock to beneficiaries throughout the Kingdom. The Authority remains committed to achieving the highest levels of reliability in water supply security.
